Inspired by the music and creative spirit of jazz legend Chick Corea, Con Alma de Armando by Stephen Primatic is a vibrant percussion ensemble work that channels the energy and rhythmic drive of Latin jazz. Scored for ten players, the piece combines colorful keyboard percussion writing with a rhythm section featuring drumset and bass guitar.

Layered grooves and interlocking rhythms propel the music forward as melodic material passes fluidly throughout the ensemble. The keyboard writing features vibrant interplay, including closely coordinated marimba 2 and 3 parts that function as a single voice. The percussion and drumset parts may be substituted with a samba drumline, and an optional bass guitar part offers flexibility in the instrumentation.
