• Drumset** — kick, snare, 2 rack toms, 1 floor tom, hi-hat, ride, crash

• Cajon** (no snares)
• Accessories** — shaker, wooden wind chimes (or wood pod chimes)

* Marimba 3 (bass marimba part) may be doubled if player and instrument are available.

** May be performed with drumset only, bongos+cajon+accessories only, or all parts.

Sin Fronteras by Rick Dior is an ensemble piece that blends jazz harmony, Latin grooves, and contemporary fusion writing. Scored for mallet keyboards, cajón, bongos, and drumset, the work features rhythmically intricate passages, odd time signatures, and opportunities for improvisation for the vibraphonist and percussion section. 

Players comfortable with modern Latin styles—especially on drumset—will find ample room for expressive interpretation. Suggested performance approaches include using bundle rods on drumset for balance and playing the hand percussion parts in traditional seated positions. Sin Fronteras offers ensembles a groove-forward, harmonically rich work that showcases multiple soloists while maintaining Dior’s signature blend of precision, energy, and sharp writing.
